Review: Bejeweled 2

I have to start by saying that I am totally addicted to this game. I played an earlier incarnation of it on an iPac PDA and it was addictive, but not like this.

bejeweled2

Like Rolando, this is a game totally suited to the iPhone/iPod Touch. Born to it.

The basic premise is easy - in Classic mode, just line three or more jewels up and they explode, giving you points. In Action mode, there is a time limit with a lot of extra points per successful task completion - quick action is rewarded.

It is hard to say exactly why this is such an addictive game - it does have a low barrier to entry (that is, it starts simply and builds up from there), catchy and not annoying music, sound effects that support play, no usability flaws - all in all, a good game all round. If you can spare the money, and want a good example of a successful iPhone game, buy it.

Suitability to the iPhone: 9/10
Value for money: 10/10 ($3.99)

AppSlut is just that - news and reviews for the Apple AppStore Tragic.

Yes, I know “slut” is a bad word. Yes, I do feel bad for all the women who have been made to feel crappy by the use of this word. So much so that I nearly didn’t register the domain. But then Chris Messina (@factoryjoe on Twitter, ubergeek, and one of the founders of the BarCamp movement) used it - and he is a really nice guy. So I’m going to give it a go.

Let me know what you think - if we can get beyond the bad word to the main theme of the blog (people like us who can’t stay away from the AppStore) then that would be a plus.
